Creative Unblock!
Sometimes, as artists and craftspeople, our creativity gets blocked. It can help to visualize something non-existent, by throwing together unexpected combinations of materials, techniques, surfaces and forms. Your imagination is doing all the work here so don't feel guilty; this is simply a machine that randomly puts techniques, materials and forms together. Your browser must be able to handle JavaScript for it to work.
There is an input box where you can type in a material name, such as clay or wood. Actually, any noun will work, such as cat or tree or any adjective like speckled or rusty. You may find that Creative Unblock! has a bias towards certain materials and techniques, as I'm primarily a metalworker. And of course some of the solutions are impossible!
~ Think of it as a form of brainstorming.
~ Think of it as a teacher giving you a design assignment.
~ Think of it as an energetic studio assistant full of ideas.
~ Don't think of it. Do it!
If you get any brilliant combinations and feel inspired to make them into something real, please let us know. However, we will not be responsible for any strange constructions you get involved in.
